FRANKFORT --- Lt. Governor and U.S. Senate Candidate Daniel Mongiardo released the following statement today announcing his opposition to the confirmation of Ben Bernanke for a second four year term as Chairman of the Federal Reserve.
"With Wall Street paying out record bonuses while Kentucky families and businesses continue to struggle, I would vote against Ben Bernanke for a second term as Chairman of the Federal Reserve. We need a Federal Board Chairman who focuses on helping Main Street --- not just Wall Street."
"While Chairman Bernanke did help to avert a complete collapse of our financial system and economy, Kentucky families and businesses are still suffering through one of the worst recessions since the Great Depression. As Chairman and member of the Federal Board of Governors since 2002, Chairman Bernanke bares a fair share of responsibility for today's financial mess."
"It's time to turn the page on recovery and get a fresh start. Wall Street is already back at work --- now it's time to get Main Street
back to work."
